stillplaying: ([others] stolen kisses)

Murdock men don't lay down. It might get him killed some day but Katniss had accepted that shortly after she had fallen for him. That stubbornness and determination are part of the reason that she's in love with him to begin with. She doesn't want to lose him - at least not any time soon - but she understands. Hopefully, he'll never have a reason to find out what losing Katniss would do to him. She doesn't want to die. Nor does she want to lose him.

A wealthy life can be for other people. They can be rich in other ways: with love, with friends, with an interesting life that actually serves to help others. She's okay with all of that. Money isn't necessary to live a good life. She had learned that growing up.

There's no changing the past. It's not always easy to accept what had happened, or the things that she had done. She still hates herself a lot of the time. But she's building a good life now. Katniss is glad that holding her makes him feel loved and safe as well. she doesn't know if the night will be calm or not but regardless, she'll have him to come back home with.

"You got me a suit," she says in a breathless whisper. An armored suit like his. She doesn't know what it looks like - if it's red or black or some other color entirely - but none of that is the point. She knows how expensive they can be. <ore than that, it's another reminder about how much he wants to keep her safe. "Matt... Thank you." But words only do so much. She dips her head down to kiss him. Her forearm rests on the ground beside his head, her hand curled to twine fingers into his hair. She slips a leg between his as she moves her body back on top of his. The kiss is slow and tender, hopefully filled with every bit of love and gratitude she's currently feeling.
