Seen baker boy around lately? No? Didn't think so. He left the oven on and ran off a few days ago, which is nuts, even for a nutjob. Maybe he's just embarrassed about nearly burning the place down, but I don't feel very hopeful. Do you?

[Oh. Oh.

That's why she hasn't seen him in the bakery, hasn't heard anything from him. First Richard, then Peeta. She blinks, replays Johanna's message, tries to process what she's being told. A spark of anger lights in her, quickly followed by a wave of sadness.

Two of the most important men in her life. Both gone and within days of one another.

She should respond. She's supposed to respond. And somehow, she finds the breath to do so. Doesn't disappear into the woods like she did the last time she found Peeta gone, though it's sorely tempting.]

[ It's a while before Johanna replies. She's not exactly sure what to say. Platitudes are meaningless to either of them. She could tell Katniss she was stupid if she took anything about this place for granted, but Katniss probably already knows that. Should she offer to come over? Bring something? She considers not replying, but that seems wrong somehow. In the end she settles for: ]

Look, do you need anything? Although all I have is whiskey and coffee.

[ Whiskey, coffee, stale bread, dirty laundry and a big apartment that she's suddenly all alone in. ]

[It's... not a bad offer. Lacks any need of Katniss to respond right away with a yes or a no. Prim's off somewhere and hearing this news, Katniss is almost tempted to go searching for her sister. Make certain that she hasn't disappeared. Like Peeta. Like Richard. But she had promised not to suffocate the girl.

She should have known better. She should have known this wouldn't last.

She takes a deep breath, trying to steady herself. Peeta's gone again.

But Johanna is still here.]
